About Matt Morton
Matt has been playing guitar and bass since 1986, and has been teaching private lessons since 2003. He grew up in Gahanna, OH where he performed in several bands and musical groups. As a valedictorian of Gahanna Lincoln High School, he won a Trustee Scholarship to Denison University and graduated from the Honors Program in 1999 (magna cum laude). While at Denison, he co-founded a rock band called The Shantee which toured and recorded for 9 years.
Matt left the band in 2004 to focus on composing music for film, TV, and commercials. He's best known for his scores for the Peabody and Emmy-winning 'Apollo 11' (Neon, CNN Films), the Emmy-winning 'Dinosaur 13' (Lionsgate, CNN Films - currently on Netflix), 'Why Did You Kill Me?' (Netflix), 'The Last Steps' (CNN Films, Great Big Story), as well as commercials and web films for clients including Porsche, Sonos, Wendy's, JPMorgan Chase, Sapient Nitro, Ketchum, American Eagle, Hollister Co., JDRF, the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, Mercy Health Hospitals, and Scotts Miracle-Gro. He now lives in Hilliard, OH with his wife Jen, and works from his home studio.
